Job brief

Verde Energy Efficiency Experts are seeking an experienced and skilled HVAC Technician to join
our team. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader, capable of managing complex rooftop
projects and possessing expert-level knowledge of HVAC maintenance and installation. This
position has zero direct reports and reports directly to our Controller.


Responsibilities


● Project Leadership: Confidently lead Roof Top HVAC replacement projects from start to
finish, including managing crane communication, directing recycling and crane crews on the
job site, and overseeing all electrical and gas connection work.
● Refrigeration Expertise: Possess the ability to braze refrigeration lines and perform thorough
leak checks on all refrigeration line installations.
● Equipment Start-up: Capable of starting up a large variety of rooftop equipment
independently, or with minimal technical support assistance when necessary.
● Technical Communication: Experienced in effectively communicating with and
problem-solving alongside technical support teams from various manufacturers.

● Specialized Component Knowledge: Experienced with the installation and ongoing
maintenance of economizers and actuators on diverse rooftop equipment.
● Mentorship and Training: Willing and able to train and mentor other team members on
HVAC equipment and best practices, both in-person and remotely via video calls.
● Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications


● Extensive commercial HVAC experience with rooftop units, heat pumps and advanced thermostat installations
● Proficient in troubleshooting both new and existing HVAC systems
● Ability to build partnerships across teams
● Skilled problem solver
● Demonstrated ability to mentor and train fellow employees
● Help to streamline and improve current project procedures
Requirements
● Experience with rooftop installations
● HVAC Troubleshooting ability
● Thermostat installations competency
● Comfortable using multiple programs via smart phone or computer
● Able to generate detailed reports of ongoing and completed projects
● Willingness to learn new products/tools
● Travel obligations include visiting each project location as necessary
● Utilize appropriate PPE in the workplace
● Expected work hours: 8 hrs per day, 5 days a week, as early as 6 am
● Expected work locations: rooftops and indoors
● Expected working conditions: able to work in environment that has hot/cold temps, loud
noises, dust (ear plugs/masks provided), humid, wet
● Must lift 50+ lbs frequently, work indoors and outdoors year-round, standing, walking,
bending, lifting, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, and operate at various heights

Benefits


Wage rate: $80,000 – $100,000 per year, depending on experience, ($80k with min 7 years, $90K
with min 10 years, and $100K with min 15 years of experience) Full-time or Part-time, salary
compensable with number of hours worked, FLSA non-exempt, overtime and prevailing wage

Job brief


The Installation Assistant is responsible for supporting the installation crew and helping with preparation,
transportation and completion of Verde projects. In order to ensure success in the position they must be
reliable, organized, able to assess needs, desire to learn and grow technical skills related to energy efficiency and able to transport materials around Northern IL to various job sites. This role reports to the designated crew chief and indirectly to Sr. Crew Chief.

Responsibilities

Reports to warehouse prior to start of jobs to assist with gathering and loading materials and supplies for the day. Start times can be as early as 5am

●Utilizing personal transportation vehicle or company vehicle, travel to various job sites as a runner to pick up, deliver or retrieve materials and supplies

●Utilizes google email, calendar, drive and various other software programs in order to support the
installation crew with their projects

●Loading, unloading, preparing and assisting with the following materials; LED tubes and drivers, interior and exterior LED fixtures and retrofit kits, LED exit signs, occupancy sensors, photocells weather stripping, refrigeration motors and controls, cooler lights, etc.

●Assist installers with tasks related to projects, or assist any other team as requested

●Anticipating needs of install as well as communicating and asking questions as needed to be productive throughout the day

●Collect extra materials, scrap, waste or misc. materials and supplies from the job site, loading, unloading and/or returning items to the warehouse at the end of day

●Completing preparation steps in order to recycle materials including wire stripping, separating materials by type, loading items into bins, etc.

●Other job duties as assigned
Requirements

●Previous work experience that shows reliability and skills applicable to this role

●Will be required to complete OSHA10 course within 5 days

●Expected work location – varies, throughout the Northern IL area

●Expected working conditions – Able to work in environment that has hot/cold temps, loud noises, dust (ear plugs/masks provided)

●Travel requirements – Expected to travel to various worksites

●Utilize appropriate PPE in the workplace

●Working Conditions: Write summary based on the following criteria that applies to this role:
(ex – Able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently, working inside and outside during all seasons, requires bending over, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, as well as working at heights of up to 50 feet)

Preferred Qualifications

●Possess a current Driver’s License and have reliable and insured vehicle to transport materials and supplies to various job sites throughout Northern IL

●Clean driving record to be approved by insurance carrier…minor violations OK.

●Skilled with hand tools; screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers and small power tools

●Interest in growing technical knowledge to aspire to become a technician or electrician in the future

●Willingness to work occasional Saturdays

●Passion for energy efficiency – a basic understanding of Verde’s mission to achieve energy savings and install sustainable solutions

●Optimism / Positivity: Expects to succeed. Remains resilient in the face of difficulties

Salary & Benefits
●Salary range $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, part time hours, hours will vary and be inconsistent based on projects. FLSA non-exempt, temporary

●Mileage in excess of commute will be reimbursed within 2 weeks of submission of expense reports
