No Need To Put All Those Eggs in One Basket

No Need To Put All Those Eggs in One Basket
May 05 2020

We all work together to make this world a better place, everyday. When it comes to your business, improving the physical space is not always cheap or a top of mind priority.

It can be difficult to justify the expense of an energy efficiency project. It’s hard to put all of your eggs into one basket – even when you are presented numbers that show that you will save more money (eggs) in the long run.

Verde works with small and large businesses across the Chicago Metropolitan area. Well, anywhere in the Commonwealth-Edison territory to be exact. As a small business ourselves, we understand the challenge of a large capital outlay and want to make it easier for other businesses to invest in the long-term health of their business without feeling like they are taking a short term gamble. We get it.

Subscription Model Pricing

This is exactly the reason Verde has decided to introduce subscription model pricing. Rather than put all of your eggs in the basket at once, let’s just do a couple eggs at a time. Spreading out a one-time payment over 6,9, or 12 months eases the upfront cost burden and helps your business to plan your cash flow. It also lets you see and feel the value of new energy efficiency measures.  This has also been coined “Energy Efficiency as a Service” or “LED Lighting as a service.”

Upgrading outdated fluorescent lighting to LEDs will save money instantly. We see this time and time again – that’s how we know you will save in the long run – both on energy costs, maintenance headaches, and routine servicing and replacement.

Prioritized Cash Flow

Distributing the project cost over several months can help a small business plan and prioritize cash flow instead of taking on a large one-time payment. You’ll also be realizing energy savings immediately which will make you feel that much more comfortable.

Let’s take a look at a recently completed project.

The above data is from a project Verde completed in November, 2019. This facility saw instant savings – an LED lighting upgrade can make a dramatic difference. In February 2019 this facility was using just about 15,000 KwH, compared to 4,000 KwH in February of 2020. At $0.11 / KwH, that’s a cost savings of roughly $1,200.

Business Energy Analyzer

If you aren’t already tracking your own usage through ComEd’s Business Energy Analyzer, we’d recommend you start with a look at your energy usage. You can’t improve what you can’t measure. The next step would be to reach out to us to schedule an assessment to learn about how you can be more energy efficient.

Putting all your eggs in one basket is no longer a gamble. It’s an investment in a brighter future for your business.  Whether you aspire to be a Green Company Chicago brags about, or just a lower operating cost, both can be accomplished.
